Choosing a hair colour begins with more than a shade chart. The most convincing result takes account of your natural colouring, the grey you have or expect to see, your hair’s condition, and how often you want to return for maintenance. A photograph can start the conversation, but your own hair and daily life shape the answer.
Start with the result you want to live with
Do you want a subtle shift in tone, a brighter impression around the face, or consistent grey coverage? Do you prefer a softer transition as your hair grows, or an even colour from roots to ends? These choices influence the technique and the maintenance interval as much as the shade itself.
If grey is part of the conversation, there is no requirement to conceal all of it. Grey blending and full coverage are both options. We can choose the degree of contrast and visibility that feels right to you.
Look at tone in context
Warm and cool labels can be useful starting points, but they do not tell the whole story. Depth, softness, contrast, eye and skin colouring, and the light in which you usually see your hair all affect how a colour reads. I look at the whole person rather than applying a fixed rule such as “warm skin needs warm hair.”

Consider your starting point
Previous colour, the amount of grey, porosity, and hair condition affect what is achievable in one appointment. A lighter result on previously coloured hair can require a different plan from adding depth to untreated hair. An honest consultation establishes the likely result, time, upkeep, and any stages needed before we begin.
Maintenance is part of the design
A strong contrast at the roots tends to look different as it grows from a soft, blended approach. Neither is inherently better. The right choice depends on the finish you like and the visits you want to make.
